| CUSTOMER REVIEWS: | 4/5 - Placebo's newest record... a continued progression Following their most cohesive record to date, Placebo attempted with Black Market Music--a record which was almost entirely self-produced--to make the musical statement which would be exclusively theirs. In some ways they failed but in many more ways did they succeed. The production is weak but personal, the songwriting sounds rushed, but with ample fervor, and the record as a whole is fragmented yet with a ransome note kind of despiration. The melodies and sometimes weak lyrics adhere with repeated listening, and without dissecting individual songs I would observe simply that Black Market Music could be the final stepping stone towards what will be their opus and zenith.
4/5 - A must for all Placebo fans After the release of Without You I'm Nothing, like many, I feared that Placebo would sell out and lose their innovative style. The release of Taste in Men (arguably the weakest track on the album) seemed to confirm this. This is probably the most commercial and soul-less single from Placebo so far. I'm glad to say, however, that the rest of the album shows Placebo at their angst-ridden best and sounding as fresh and original as ever. The evolution of their music continues apace especially with the more experimental tracks such as Spite and Malice, whilst tracks such as Days Before You Came and Slave To The Wage are reminiscent of their truely excellent self-titled debut album. Slave To The Wage in particular reminds me of other well known tracks such as Nancy Boy. The heavy guitars sounds are perfectly balanced with the searing vocals of Brian Molko. This is the perfect album to listen to after a stressful day when all you want to do is slam the door and sulk. Overall this album is an impressive return to form from one of Britain's most talented and innovative bands.
5/5 - This is the greatest Placebo cd till now.. This is really a great CD. To make this cd popular arround everybody, they have their two smash hits: Taste In Men, Special K. But thats not all. This cd does not just have two or three hits, the whole cd really rocks. Songs like: Days Before You Came, Blue American, Commercial For Levi, Narcoleptic, Peeping Tom - are without hitting in the charts anyway some really great songs. I can only recommend this album. And for you who already know Placebo from their self titled album and the album titled Without You Im Nothing, need this album to finish their collection. This is so far the best placebo album! |
