| CUSTOMER REVIEWS: | 5/5 - I'm A New Fan !!!!!!!!!!!!! There grownup now and so am I. I NEVER bought one of there albums unti NOW. THIS IS MY FIRST ALBUM I BOUGHT OF THEM! I saw there show on VH1 Behind-The-Music and it interested me in their album. I'm sure glad I bought it. If you truly want the best experience of this album pick up the DUAL DISC version and play it on your 5.1 surround sound system at home and sit back and enjoy the experience. I sure did. The extras are good too which include the "incomplete" video and the making of. THE BOYS ARE BACK!
3/5 - They're back, they've changed; but is the change good? Nearly five years since an album release, and one might believe the Backstreet Boys have had their lives turned upside-down. Or maybe they have. Sure, alcohol, solo albums, and babies can send anyone on a significantly alternate route; yet, tracks on Never Gone show little semblance to earlier favorites such as "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" or "Shape of My Heart." Which leaves me asking, why?
Becoming a fan circa post-Millennium era, I came to find the Boys' sweetly-packaged pop harmonies enjoyably addicting. Once Black & Blue hit the shelves, and I gave a whole-hearted listen to "More Than That," I began to believe they were maturing in a way worth taking note of. The melancholy-country style, incorporting a striking blend of five otherwise bland voices, made me believe there would be greater sounds to come.

Their lastest work barely scratches the "p" on the word "progression". "Incomplete" vaguely although noteably reminds me of Britney Spears' "Toxic," with its over-produced instrumentals and lack of the guys' raw, well-kept vocal trademark. Carter's voice has grown, but not enough so that he should be leading a decent number of the songs here. "Just Want You to Know" makes me wonder how I could ever deal with being a fan.

However, there are a few saving graces here. "Climbing the Walls" has the Max Martin-esque style I've prided the group in, even if the choice of musical layout on the song has meshed with the pop-rock theming on this disc. "Weird World" is refreshing with its tack onto older influences of the groups'. There's some soul in them still. Speaking of, "I Still" is the perfect fan anthem; nonetheless, that is the only reason I take the time allotted to listen to it.

Finally, "Siberia" slithers in and proves itself strong, with a catchy riff and depressive vocals echoing John Lennon. Littrell truly proves himself authentic here, which I find rare concerning any of their works. They feel, but popular music often has a solid detachment between artist and song, and, on that note, Never Gone has a great amount of detachment to me, as a fan.
These men can do better, and I hope they will, come next time. Nevertheless, KTBSPA.

5/5 - AMAZING!! I've been a BSB fan for 8 years now and this is their best album, yet!! Millennium is #2 on my list. Anyway, a great album for their comeback. You can tell they've grown up by listening to their new, mature sound. There's not a song on the CD that I don't like! Great harmonies on all of the songs. Fun to blast in your car with your windows down! Don't hestitate to preview it; you won't be disappointed! |
