| CUSTOMER REVIEWS: | 4/5 - Back to form i have bought pretty much all albums prior to this one so have a good flavour for blink 182. It certainly is good. It seems to have taken a more slower approach, with them trying out some new sounds and techniques. worth your cash.
5/5 - Blink 182......... Are you sure???? If you like punk then there really won't be much here for you to enjoy. I thought the single Feeling This was way different to anything they've ever produced, but figured it would be one of the experimental tracks on their new album which would contain fast punk and comedy lyrics like their previous albums. But NO. This album shows how much the band has really matured (most of them have kids and wives now...) and the style is way more influenced by the side project Box Car Racer than any of Blink's previous albums.
It's not what I was expecting at all, but I'm not disappointed. Some of the songs sound really good, with excellent harmonising vocals and Travis's amazing drumming. There's loads of additional instruments and vocalists which will take you by surprise for sure... but don't be put off, if you're a Blink fan and enjoyed Box Car Racer then you should go out and buy this, purely to see how different it is! But if you really wanted a punk album like Enema or TOYPAJ then this won't be for you!!
3/5 - Blink 182 get serious! When you think Blink 182 you think of warped humour and er, making love to animals?! There comes a time in ones life where joking about that kind of thing becomes a bit pathetic.. that's happened to Blink 182. This new album has none of the humour of past albums but instead is a well crafted musical treat.
Opener and lead single 'Feeling This' is probably the only radio friendly track comparable to previous efforts. The rest of the album has more mellow, softer songs but still has some heavy rock songs.
The main standouts are 'Obvious', 'Violence', 'Stockholm Syndrome' and of course 'All of This' which features Robert Smith from The Cure on guest vocals.
Not one of the most essential purchases or the starting point if you're just getting into Blink 182, but still a good album nonetheless. |
