| CUSTOMER REVIEWS: | 5/5 - "Band-Aid" Bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who have one major thing in common.....the sum of the parts were much greater than the individual pieces. Can a single Zeppelin fan honestly say that Jimmy Pages' "Outrider" or Robert Plants "Now and Zen" could be filed under Zep...I DON'T THINK SO. For anyone to say this box set is less than 4-5 stars brings me to 3 conclusions: A)you were born in the 80's or 90's B)your favorite band is Hoobastank, but J.Lo is a close second or C)your a "i listen to everything person" but have a tough time naming another Led Zep song other than "Stairway to Heaven". I agree with another review that indicated some of the songs on his set could have been cut. On the flipside, why bother? Zep's worst songs are better than most new music within the last 10 years. For an individual who admits they are musically inept, but are willing to reform their bad tastes for something resembling people playing real notes/original music...consider Zeppelins' box set as a book that answers THE MEANING TO LIFE.
5/5 - A Great Compilation! Here are my brief reviews for this box set..
CD I: Everything start of with Whole Lotta Love, the psychedelic-metal or whatever you want to call it. This CD are about Blues. I mean if you want to hear Led Zeppelin Blues this CD is for you..
CD II: The songs from this CD are mostly from Led Zep III and Led Zep IV.. So you will get a mixed of good heavy metal sound and mythical music. The last song of second CD is monumental "Stairway To Heaven.
CD III. The first track "Kashmir" starts where the Stairway to Heaven left off.. This track is not only a grand epic on this CD. This CD also have a epic Zep song such as In My Time of Dying
CD IV: Some of the best tracks from last three Zep Albums are here. This CD contains some of my Zep Favs: All My Love, Fool In the Rain, and The Ocean..
5/5 - A box set no classic rock fan should be without! As a relatively late-arriving fan of Led Zeppelin, let me say that (without a doubt) this is one of the best box set values available. The variety of music is amazing and the remastering of the songs in this 4-CD set is top-notch. Page, Plant, Bonham, and Jones are terrific musicians and really show their range in this 54 song set.
Long-time fans will find that just about every famous Zep song is present in this compilation. Familar titles like, "Black Dog", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Whole Lotta Love", and of course, "Stairway To Heaven" are present. But, lesser-known gems "Hey Hey What Can I Do", "All My Love", and "Heartbreaker" carry the freight just as well!.
And, while not everyone is into reading inserts, included is an outstanding booklet that contains many, many photos with interesting bios and stories about the band. You'll appreciate the fact that you've got this beauty on CD instead of vinyl because you'll find yourself practically wearing it down from overplay. It's that good! |
