| CUSTOMER REVIEWS: | 3/5 - Some excellence, shows what can go wrong with a freestyle cd Well, don't let the title or the rating mislead you (I would probably give it a 3.5), this cd is worth your purchase if you enjoy rap. But it proves that an album cannot be based solely on freestyles. While some of the beats are pretty good, most are just the same old, same old, and many are just not worth it. Plus, some of the rappers on here are pretty bad and might annoy you (look out for tony tiger, the mexakinz and chino xl, they are pretty bad). However there are many pluses to this cd: you get to hear some classics beats revisited, and you also get to hear some phenomenal rappers freestyling (coolio, supernatural- the king of freestyles, Doug E. Fresh, Mykill Myers, Ras Kass, King Just and KRS One stand as my favorites). However, the thing that bogs this cd down is mediocre performances such as those by Born Allah, Saafir and Ahmad. While these are by no means bad, the simply won't blow your socks off like a Supernatural freestyle or a KRS-One freestyle. All in all though, this is a pretty nice package (if not too long). Enjoyable overall. |
