It's so nice to see old favorites such as Daryl and John continuing to share their voices with us. I don't necessarily need to hear new songs. Instead, give me some new and exciting renditions of old ones...especially those from the 70's...and I'm hooked. That's exactly what this collection does! Daryl and John put their own spin on these songs, giving them revitalized life and helping their listener to uncover a flood of great memories. Look at the song list. If you like what you see, then snatch this one up. You'll be listening to it over and over and over! Enjoy!
5/5 - One of their Best
I love this Hall & Oates CD! I listen to it over & over again. Their renditions of the older Soul songs are excellent; I even like the subtle changes in lyrics that Daryl did. And Daryl's new songs are also very beautiful, especially "Don't Turn Your Back On Me". The only song I don't like is "Neither One of Us" because it is a song about goodbyes.

When I first heard "I'll be around"I had to get this CD.Hall and Oates version of the Spinners classic is so different.I never knew how sad this breakup song was untill I heard John's version.I know NO ONE can touch Barry White's "Can't get enough of your love,"But this one sure comes close,and Aretha Franklin's,"Rock Steady" would be a great second single.The only soul classic I didn't care for was "Neither one of us."I guess I can't get Gladys Knight's beutifull song out of my head,but "Our Kind Of Soul" is YOUR kind of Soul.17 tracks of new and old Soul Classics. |
